Bank Of America Backlash of the Day: Score 1 for the 99: Backlash from consumers has forced Bank of America to ditch its plan to charge a $5 monthly fee on debit card usage.

“We have listened to our customers very closely over the last few weeks,” said Bank of America Co-Chief Operating Officer David Darnell, “and recognize their concern with our proposed debit usage fee.”

BoA’s shares dropped 6 percent in the wake of the announcement. Several banks recently decided to scrap similar test programs, while others canceled existing fees.

“It’s a sign of consumer power in action,” Norma Garcia of Consumers Union was quoted as saying. “This is a sign of the marketplace working.”

Truth: I’ve been avoiding packing even though my trip is getting closer and closer.

Fact: TSA packing ~~guidelines~~ mandates are getting a little bit out of control.

Disclaimer: I’m happy that there are rules for my safety and people willing to serve and protect.

But honestly, checking and rechecking the rules as I figure out what goes where is starting to freak me out. A lot. I can’t shake the feeling that TSA is going to question me about my carry-on bag and I’ll be all like,

Nostalgia Overload of the Day: VH1 announced today plans to reboot its much-loved music video program Pop-Up Video, with co-creator Woody Thompson serving as executive producer.

60 half-hour episodes have been ordered, and the show is set to end its 10-year hiatus in the fall. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show’s format “will remain faithful to the original concept,” with one important tweak: The addition of rap and hip-hop to the show’s rotation.

“Pop Up Video has stood the test of time, ranking as one of the most iconic series in recent television history,” VH1 president Tom Calderone said in a press release. “For years, people have practically begged, ‘Please bring back Pop Up Video!’ It’s a show and format that now evokes nostalgia for VH1’s young adult audience.”
